Its become a bit of a tradition to visit New Orleans for my birthday.
It started with my 30th which was just so much fun, we've done it the next 2 birthdays.
This year's trip was exceptionally fun as it landed in the middle of Mardi Gras season.
(I'll have to post more on this topic later, but its a very serious holiday in this region)
There were several parades going on and a few of them rolled through Bourbon St.
This one was put on the Krewe of Cork on Friday afternoon.
I got one of their nice 'throws' - as you may be able to tell by the wine bottles, this
group is mainly people interested in wine :). I think I would do well with them.
They had a little band play as they strolled through the street

A bunch of Marie Antoinette costumes - love their pink wigs!
2 men with Tiffany boxes and you can see a kind of Audrey Hepburn
looking woman (blue wig) with them doing her take on Breakfast at Tiffany's.
This was just a small walking parade. There are tons of big ones with floats, bands, etc
that take hours to stroll through the streets of New Orleans. It's quite fascinating.
The streets are just littered with beads by the end of night.
We spent the majority of our weekend in the French Quarter - strolling, eating and drinking.
My good friend, Jenny, has been my partner in crime on all these NOLA outings,
and we always have to make a stop for Hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's.
Spending a sunny hour or so in their courtyard is great fun (and the people watching!)

We did a bit of dancing at the Famous Door on Saturday night.
Always have the best live band at that place (even if the music skews a bit towards the 70's).
New eating experiences! - Court of Two Sisters for brunch, Tujague's ("two-jacks") for lunch,
and Muriel's on Jackson Square for dinner. All were delicious and stuffed our group to the brim!
Had another great birthday weekend in New Orleans...who's next?!?!?
So fun! I'd love to visit there someday!
