Happy New Year!!

Bill and I had a really great New Years Eve celebration  in
Orange Beach at the Wharf. Bringing in 2013 with some
of our family and friends has me looking forward to what I pray is
happy and healthy year - one that will probably provide us with
some challenges as we continue to transition to our new home.
It's fun sharing my adventures in Southern living with everyone
and I hope you enjoy reading about them!
Here's another to add to the pile:

I realize the concept of a "Polar Dip" is not unique to the Gulf Coast,
especially when it's about 70 degrees on New Years Day, but
I have to say that the FloraBama Polar Plunge
was definitely different than anything I've ever witnessed!
(Note my choice of verb - witness -  not participate)
Santa and his reindeer showed up (all 12 of them!)
Please note the Nacho Libre character in the background...
not joking, I think that man was in his early 70's.
And in foreground - Bill having a bushwhacker :)
 Maker's Mark Whiskey crew
"How'd you spend Jan 1st?"
"Oh you know, just hung out in my banana leaf on the beach with my bro"

There were so many interesting costumes (Nuns, Hula girls, Elvis, Penguins)
It was kind of like being at a Halloween party.

Bill braved the cold waters of the ocean with his cousin
and a few other local friends - crazy boys!

So if you're ever visiting us over New Years in the future,
you may have to experience the Polar Dip for yourself!
