Sierra Rose is 6!

Happy Birthday to my first "fur-baby", Sierra Rose! She turns 6 today! I can't believe we've had this much time with her. She actually came home on February 27th, but Bill and I were fortunate to meet her when she was only 3 weeks old and so tiny!

This is our sweet girl on her first day home - after Bill bravely drove several hours through a West Michigan snow storm to get her.

From the very beginning, Sierra has been a very laid back dog. Hardly a 'typical' lab with tons of energy for endless rounds of fetch (we have her sister for that). She is most content to lounge and have the top of her head stroked...so much so that she'll nudge your hand if you don't satisfied her demands.

 Sierra's not a huge fan of this birthday hat, but she was a good sport to keep it on long enough for a few photos (I think this is from her 2nd birthday).

 Lounging on the swing in our backyard in Lombard. This is the only

piece of furniture she's allowed on without explicit permission 

and she definitely takes full advantage of this privilege.

I love this dog so much and am so thankful to have her as a part of my life!

I am keenly aware of the relatively short time we get to have with her in the scheme

of our lengthier human lives - it is sweet and cherished. 

Sierra, you'll always be my first baby -  Happy birthday, dog girl!
