So, call it women's intuition or maybe just call it plain ol'
skepticism, but in the last week or so, I was just not believing
that our house would be done on time. Things were
just going way too slow (does this surprise anyone???).
They seemed especially slow when compared to the other
two homes slated to be completed at the same time as ours.
Let's just run through a short checklist of things that haven't been done:
- full paint job
- flooring and carpet installation
- cabinets
- countertops
- kitchen appliances
- light fixtures
- front door (yep, it's still not here!)
- plumbing fixtures
- driveway and walkway
- sod
- sprinkler system
There's probably many many other small things I'm missing here
but you catch my drift, right? Extreme Home Makeover this is not...
So, we posed the question: are you guys really going to be done on December 18th?
"Oh, we're really sorry, but you're not going to be in your house before
Christmas. It's probably more like after the first of the year."
My brain was imploding with anger and frustration, but I managed to keep it
together on the outside and voice my disappoint like a grown up person.
We're in contact with our realtor about how to proceed with this latest delay
because at this point, they are costing us money. We've extended our lease
in our apartment by a month and I certainly do not want to have to pay
for another month of rent because they can't seem to do their job in timely manner.
UGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
In the mean time, here's a few pictures of the
turtle's pace work currently going on in the house.
There's a coat of paint in most of the house. It's hard to
really see the color very well, but this is the Sea Salt which goes
throughout the main part of the house.
The Destiny in the master bedroom turned out pretty well.
I was going for a "gravender" look (thank you Pinterest for the term!)
and I think it'll turn out well once the second coat it up.

Gravender!!! I love it! I've never heard the term before, but will now use it! Ha! I'm so, so sorry that things are going so slowly. But it is looking so well done. I can't wait to see it in person one day! And Mark will be SO jealous of the deck and covered porch! Love it!
