I had a great time at home last week. Per usual, I had
some difficulties with air travel through Atlanta - they cancelled the flight
on Wednesday night due to storms, so I didn't get to come home until
Thursday morning - which thankfully, went smoothly.
The highlight of my visit was the Justin Timberlake/Jay Z
"Legends of the Summer" concert at Soldier Field on July 22nd*
My beautiful group of friends! We met up at Scout in the South Loop
before the show to have some dinner and drinks. And then it was time to
trek over to Soldier Field...
Walking, walking, walking with thousands of concert goers.
The stifling heat wave had passed over the weekend and it was actually a pleasant evening
for a mile(ish) stroll through Grant Park, around the Field Museum, etc.
But then there was this.... my friend Jill deemed this "Tunnel of Hell" and I cannot
think of a better description. It took over an hour to actually get inside the stadium
once we got to Solider Field. It was stifling hot, body to body crowded and moving
at a glacial pace. Miserable! But good times awaited us when we reached our destination.
The stage prior to the start of the show
Our seats were near the rear of the floor, so I couldn't see JT or Jay Z very clearly, but
the side screens were helpful. It was so so fun. I looked up to the nosebleeds at one
point and could clearly tell every person in those seats was having as much fun as
the people in the front row. It was a night of pure entertainment and I'm so happy
I got to spend it with my good girl friends!
(I tried and failed multiple times to upload a video from the concert, so my few poor images will have to do!)
*I also should say I got to spend wonderful quality time with my husband, dogs and
family while I was home. Musicians certainly don't trump that, but it's a close second for me!
