Framing

Bill and I loved our anniversary getaway and were so
anxious to see what progress had been made on our house
while we were gone. They'd just started framing on Wednesday morning
and look how far they got in 72 hours!!!

Front of the house
North side of the house - aka 'garage side' (slots for 3 cars)
South side of house - the paneled wall is the office and the master bed/bath is right behind it
West side/Back of the house. Bill is standing the outdoor patio
I'm standing in the 'kitchen' looking toward what will be the living room
This will be french doors leading out to our patio and backyard.

This massive open area is the "bonus" room above the garage. Just to the right will be a guest bed/bath.
Stairs to the bonus room

This is the half bath off the the kitchen. But let's just focus on the window here for a moment...
It's supposed to be a door! When we walked through a similar house in the neighborhood last
year, we really liked this feature of a backdoor off the bathroom. I realize to some it may seem a
bit random, but we plan to put a pool in the yard eventually. And the last thing I want is a bunch of
wet people traipsing through my house to get the bathroom, so this door is a great solution!
I think the framers might have gotten confused by it since the house is elevated off the ground
several feet and right now it makes absolutely no sense to have "the door to nowhere".
Well, they're going to have to fix it. So I'll let you know how that goes.

We had no way of knowing the house would end up being so far above the yard when the plans
were drawn up. We even asked for our patio to extended to the edge of this bathroom
which would have been simple if the house was level with the ground.
Seeing as this is not the case, the builders are going to have to give us a deck or something.
The window/door thing is "fail" on the builder's end, but since we caught it, I'm
hopeful it can be easily remedied. Are you as excited as I am about these 2x4's and panelling?!?!
Can't wait to show you more later this week :)
