It's felt like summer for quite a while here already - I'm adjusting
to the "3 H's" - Hot, Humid & Hazy - as the norm in my life.
I'm actually sort of longing for a nice cool Midwestern evening, the kind where
you put jeans and sweatshirt on after spending the day in shorts.
Oh wait, they call that November in this part of the country!
Enough about the weather! I had the pleasure of spending this past week with my mom!
During her visit we had the chance to take a mini-vacation to Destin, Florida
(about a 2 1/2 hr drive from my place in Spanish Fort).
Our first stop was to a Northwest Florida dining "must" - McGuire's!
This unique restaurant has over a MILLION $1 bills hanging all over the walls
and the ceiling!!! It's crazy to take in. The food was so tasty
that we ate there twice (on the way in and the way home).
Later in evening we went over to Baytowne Wharf for dinner
and some lively entertainment from a Louisiana zydeco band, Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe!
Zydeco is a music style featuring accordion and 'washboard' as the key instruments.
The music is uptempo and very fun to listen to. We had a great time!
Love my momma!
The next day it was off to Crystal Sands Beach
Ah, toes in white sand + warm air + ocean = perfection!
The beaches of Northwest Florida are known as the Emerald Coast.
It is just absolutely beautiful and I'm so happy we could spend a few days
in this little bit of God's paradise. I'll be happy to return here again :)
