A visit with my mom (as told through food)

I was so excited to have my mom come for visit this past weekend! This was her first time to Gulf Coast and I was really happy to show her around. As you will see from these photos, we did a lot of eating!

We spent the first day and half in Orange Beach. We enjoyed a very nice brunch
at Ships Harbour Grill. Eggs France (a version of benedict with brie and spinach) and Creme Brûlée
along with a mimosa made for a relaxing Sunday morning.

The weather was not exactly picturesque while we were at the beach...
mostly overcast and windy, but we made the most of it!

After another day or so in Alabama, we headed to New Orleans!
No trip would be complete without a Pat O'Brien's Hurricane
Please note that they serve popcorn with drinks during the week! This was
a pleasant surprise as I have only visited on busy Saturdays before.
The famous flaming fountain at Pat O's

We took a 'tame' walk down Bourbon St - much better to do during
the middle of the week at dusk - and we stopped to take in a bit of
jazz at the Legends Jazz Park. I love the way music spontaneously is happening
all over the city at all hours of day and night.

Dinner at Emeril's NOLA. Mom had the best pork chop I've ever tasted!

Followed by breakfast at Cafe Du Monde. Beignets covered in powdered sugar
are something I would eat quite frequently if not so terrible for your health

Isn't this pumpkin tartlet darling? Restaurant August for a prix fixe lunch
was the perfect end to our time together.

In addition to eating, we had a long stroll through the French Quarter
in an attempt at a DIY walking tour. I can definitely foresee
many more little jaunts like this for us in the future :).
It was so great to have you here, Mom. I can't wait for next time!
